Next Generation of MRI Scanners.
Visualizing both soft and hard tissue.
About Us
Tesoro Imaging S.L. is a spin-off of Institute of Molecular Imaging Instrumentation (i3M) of the CSIC and the UPV, which is developing a mobile and low cost magnetic resonance system that means a disruption in the brain and dental medical imaging market.
A Global Crisis in Brain Monitoring
According to World Health Organization, in 2021, 57 million people had dementia worldwide. Every year, there are nearly 10 million new cases.
Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading cause of death globally, taking an estimated 17,9 million lives each year.
Standard high-field MRI is costly, slow and logistically impractical for monitoring.
Conventional PET and TAC tools expose patients to ionizing radiation, limiting the frequency of follow-up scans.
Patients go unmonitored, leading to undetected deterioration, delayed interventions, and increased long-term costs for health systems.

Our innovation is based in 3 pillars:
Our systems are to compete with panoramic X-ray and cone-beam X-ray CT (Computerized Tomography) systems. Based on an ultra-fast technology licensed to Tesoro Imaging, our system is radiation-free and aimed at replacing conventional X-ray dental devices. It can visualize both hard and soft tissues, expanding the diagnostic and planning capabilities of dentists.
Some of our ongoing work includes:
All dental clinics use X-rays. But X-rays are an ionising radiation: this limits the number of images and requires special installations and control. Also, X-rays do not image soft tissue.
Problems with current X-ray based technology include:
The superiority of conventional MRI in many aspects over X-ray has been obvious since its birth. However, a few barriers have prevented dentists from using MR devices:
Our device overcomes all these barriers through a combination of solutions at the core of which is a patented ultra-fast MRI technology. Our system is radiation-free, with no need for special installation; and the number of images is only determined by diagnostic criteria. Image quality is better, capturing soft and hard tissue. Dental clinics are excited about the prospect of having such a compact, affordable MRI device, which would have the following implications for them:
